Earn more and spend less
Here are some suggestions:
1. If you are working for someone, don't assume the pay has to remain low. Do your homework before accepting low pay for a dream job.
2. Ask for a raise after proving your worth over time, or ask about what additional training you could do to increase your worth.
3. Keep yourself multi-skilled even while keeping your eye on climbing one particular ladder. It can take some time to learn that a job shouldn't define who you are.
4. Be sure you want to follow the dream job path. It is one thing to say that you don't mind low pay for a dream job and quite another to find yourself resenting the low pay while your friends seem to be able to afford everything.
5. Your success in turning your passion into a source of income may depend on your ability to approach it as a business.
6. Even though you may love what you are doing, don't let it eat into all your spare time. As Tim Ferriss explores in The 4-Hour Work Week, make smart choices about where to invest your time and energy. This means looking inside yourself, not at what others are doing.
