Best romantic Indian restaurants in London

Best romantic Indian restaurants in London

You may be planning out a special lunch or dinner date with your loved ones to celebrate some special moments. You would obviously want to have the best food and an ambience to relate your romantic mood. So, if you are in London and looking for a cosy and intimate restaurant, what better place to dine than in one of London's finest Indian restaurants. Here are some of the most romantic Indian restaurants London has to offer.

Mint Leaf Lounge.

Located in Square Mile, in a converted NatWest building, Mint Leaf offers contemporary Indian cuisine in opulent and stylish surroundings. The theme is cream and black, and there are beautiful walnut partitions, creating an intimate space for couples on a date. Signature dishes include a tandoor baby rack of lamb with yoghurt and saffron. They are also known for their extensive cocktail list with over a thousand options served at their slick bar.

Red Fort.

Red Fort has been recently revamped. You can take your partner to enjoy a perfectly sophisticated and chic atmosphere for a romantic meal. Well-spaced tables allow couples to enjoy their privacy and the colour scheme of cream and ruby red adds to the ambience. This restaurant is set in Soho, in the heart of London. One of the most popular dishes here is the Slow-roasted Welsh lamb, served in a clay pot with basmati rice and okra.

The Quilon Restaurant.

The Quilon allows diners to experience Michelin-starred Indian food in stylish surroundings. Just around the corner from Buckingham Palace, this restaurant is located in the Crowne Plaza St James Hotel. The murals of palm trees and blue and gold tones create an elegant atmosphere, perfect for a special occasion such as an anniversary or Valentines treat. Their menu features dishes such as lobster with Goan pickle and fish curry with tamarind and coconut.

Chutney Mary.

This restaurant has been regarded by many as one of the finest in serving Indian food in London. Chutney Mary is located on the trendy Kings Road in Chelsea. They deliver exquisite dishes, inspired by several regions of India, with one goal in mind that is to take you on a journey of Indian food. The atmosphere of the restaurant can be described as moody and intimate, with dimmed lights and tasteful music.

To be on a safer side, it would be better to ask for a table in the conservatory for a truly romantic occasion. The restaurant is very spacious and has good-sized tables, and the front-of-house team are extremely knowledgeable in the food and wine they offer, only adding to the special experience had here. Signature dishes include baked sea bass with almonds and chironji, and Kerala pepper duck served with a cinnamon, coconut and black pepper sauce, and a sweet potato crumble.

Romantic moods should always be accompanied with appetizing food to make the moments memorable and Indian food is the best way out. So, pick any of these restaurants of your choice and enjoy your date.

Nice list, as I don't naturally associate Indian restaurants with romance - always worried about the after-effects later in the evening. But Chutney Mary sounds great.
